Round The Island Race

Displaying the Coming Home spinnaker, Elixir GB 2012 came in 15th in the Round The Island Race, IRC Division 2A class last month raising over £2,000 in the process.

This one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight was sponsored by JP Morgan Asset Management. The race attracted 1,647 boats and around 16,000 sailors, making it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs. It is 50 nautical miles and starts on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the fleet races westabout, to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes. 1,198 boats crossed the finish line.

Skipper William Garnett and his Team Elixir raised over £2,000 for Coming Home and raised the profile of the campaign by flying the Coming Home spinnaker in full sail. You can still add to their fundraising total through theirJust Giving page.
